ReGeneration and Coding School by kariera.gr have joined forces to created a unique opportunity for training and the employment of dozens of young people, through an innovative program that teaches the basic principles of programming in Java technology, in order to:
· Enhance the digital skills participants need to enter the job market
· Empower young people in their job search
ReGeneration and Coding School by kariera.gr opened their doors today, welcoming dozens of participants for the first day of the program, in which candidates will complete 260 hours of practical training through partner companies, and will be placed at roles in large Greek and multinational companies.
Participants learning Java programming from experienced Software Developers in the market will claim full-time paid positions* in the IT industry.
Ms. Manto Patsaoura, General Manager of kariera.gr, stated that “Faithful to our mission to enhance employment in Greece, kariera.gr and the Coding School join forces with the ReGeneration program, supporting young people with specialized technological knowledge, but also skills that the current labor market needs, and especially the rapidly growing IT sector, strengthening their professional future.”
Panagiotis Madamopoulos-Moraris, Co-Founder of ReGeneration , on his part stressed: “Understanding market needs, and with a vision for ReGeneration to become the first comprehensive program for personal and professional development and employment of young people in Greece, we combine ReGeneration’s unique DNA and know-how with the deep knowledge and experience of Coding School and kariera.gr, and are proceeding with a pilot program for future developers as part of our broader plan for targeted training in sectors of the Greek economy where there is a mismatch between available positions and suitably qualified candidates.”
* The employment concerns a minimum duration of 6 months and with a minimum gross salary of 750 euros/month, while an additional 25 hours of volunteer hours must be completed at selected NGOs.
About ReGeneration
With a vision to democratize post-university education and career opportunities for young graduates in our country, ReGeneration is the largest employment and training program in Greece. An initiative of the Global Shapers Athens Hub and World Economic Forum, ReGeneration was created with the goal of contributing to youth employment, bridging the skills gap, and combating “brain drain.” The program addresses talented young graduates (up to 29 years old) in a range of specialties with 0 – 3 years of work experience, who strive to stand out as young professionals in Greece. ReGeneration offers participants 6 months (minimum) paid employment at multinational companies and SMEs in Greece, and 56 hours of training with a focus on personal and professional development, as well as mentoring opportunities with renowned market executives. As part of the program, participants also complete 25 volunteer hours supporting select NGOs. To date, 320 recent graduates have been employed at 100 partner companies, while the renewal of collaborations between these individuals and the companies (beyond 6 months) amounts to 82%. ReGeneration is a non-profit program supported by: Coca-Cola, The Coca-Cola Foundation, The Hellenic Initiative and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
