In this period, one of the great challenges of technology is to help integrate the majority of the population into the digital economy and to support society in its digital transition. Based on this, Microsoft Greece, Cyprus and Malta in collaboration with ReGeneration is launching the DigiYouth initiative.

The goal of the DigiYouth Program is to provide upskilling and reskilling opportunities to 3,000 young graduates, to become a driving force for their personal and professional development, as well as to place more graduates in companies throughout Greece based on market needs.

Microsoft is the world’s most renowned multinational technology company, and has been at the forefront of technological advancement for more than 40 years, always holding leading positions (Biggest companies) in the world in market value. It is also the undisputed global market leader in the IT industry, with software solutions and intelligent cloud services, both for enterprises and personal use, with a vast array of services and technologies including the Windows OS, .NET Framework, Microsoft Office, Visual Studio, MSSQL Server, Microsoft Azure, etc. 

Apart from its overall success, Microsoft boasts an impressive annual growth rate of its commercial cloud services of 39% in the fiscal second quarter of 2020, with Azure’s sales going up by 62%. More specifically, Azure collected 65% in the Stackoverflow survey for the Most Wanted Technology category in 2019.

Azure is Microsoft’s cloud platform that aims to transform the traditional data center, offering the ability to provide flexible services to users who want to continue working from anywhere, with any device in a structured and secure way. Microsoft Azure is a platform that can turn the cloud into a tool to serve the respective business needs, and there are multiple reasons why enterprises would choose to use it. Azure includes among others the following services: Virtual Machines, Web Hosting, Online Data Storing, Identity and Access Control, Express Route VPN and Cloud Managed Services. 

.NET Core is an open-source framework developed by Microsoft that can be used to build software. The framework offers the ability to easily develop applications for a variety of platforms such as the web, mobile and desktop. The framework can be used for the development of websites, APIs, microservices, machine learning algorithms, games and others. According to Stack Overflow, the last two years (2019 and 2020), .NET Core has proven to be one of the most popular and most beloved frameworks amongst developers. It does not only have a large community that helps in its evolution, but it also has constant support and updates from its Microsoft. 

Also, as the DevSkiller 2020 survey suggests, the .NET / C# technology stack is in the top five of the programming languages / technologies companies are looking for developers and in the same position on the most popular IT / Tech skills that developers are tested (based on test invites sent) on the DevSkiller platform.

According to Eurostat, one in four companies across the European Union (average of 26%) have a cloud infrastructure and it is evident that more and more companies are adopting the technology, as an increase of 21% in the usage of cloud computing can be noticed from 2014 to 2018.  

Finally, GitHub, a tool that has attracted millions of users in the field of programming, has also emphasized the importance of C# in the field of programming, ranking it 5th in the Top 10 Primary Languages in its annual report “The State of The Octoverse”, showcasing its remarkable growth over the previous years.
